I spent years wondering why God lets ‘accidents’ happen to people who are working their hardest.

I grew up in a marina. By 15, I was a ‘deck ape’—the one responsible for the heavy lifting and the physical grind of the race. I loved the sweat of it. But at 18, a severe car accident ‘screwed up’ my back.

I thought my racing days were over.

But that ‘disaster’ was one of my earliest memory of a GodSequence. Because I could no longer do the labor, my father taught me the Helm. He put my hands on the wheel and taught me how to steer.

Because I couldn’t do the hard grind, I had to learn the vision.

If I hadn’t been ‘broken,’ I would have spent my whole life pulling lines on the deck. Instead, I became a Captain.
